This is my 2 ½ inches Bending Machine made mainly from Meccano parts.

I made this machine in order to bend smoothly some Meccano girders and plates that I needed for my models (Meccano Rotating Table, Meccano Telescope etc)

There are some custom made parts, like the rollers and the handles. The rollers are made from brass or steel according to the strength that needed. They are 3/8 of an inch in diameter witch complies with Meccano standards and 2 ½ inches in length.

One can bend Meccano plates rigid or flexible, up to 2 ½ inches wide. The process for the rigid plates is much slower than this for the flexible ones, and has to be done in small steps.

In any case the result is remarkably smooth.

Sometimes during the bending process, the paint is removed from the plates especially from the outside surface.

As you can see from the photos, the machine is built on a Meccano Storage Box that gives a strong and stable base.
