Meccano
Telescope
This is a unique construction made, mainly, with Meccano parts.
My intention was to build a working model of a telescope. So I made
this Reflector Telescope using a 3 inches (75mm) mirror which has a 27 inches (700mm) focal length.
The optics came from an amateur telescope with damaged tube.
The main mirror has a three point adjustable base and the diagonal is fully adjustable on its spider base.
The focuser takes the standard 1 ¼” eyepieces and I've tested it with a 12.5mm focal length.
The magnification of the telescope with this eyepiece is about 56X.
Almost everything else is genuine Meccano. There is only one part which is Meccano compatible, a circular girder that supports the mirror.
So far the British summer didn't allow me to check the telescope on the sky but I think that under a clear sky, I can easily see the faces of the Venus, the Saturn's rings and the satellites of Mars and Jupiter and of course the craters on the moon.
